Jonas Taylor is the main protagonist of the Meg Saga. He is the husband of Terry Tanaka-Taylor and the father of Danielle "Dani" Taylor and David Taylor. He was once the husband of Maggie Taylor before she left him and was eventually killed by the meg. He is also the best friend of James "Mac" Mackreides. At the beginning of book one, he is 39 years old, and at the end of book four, he is around 66 years old. In the film he was portrayed by famous actor Jason Statham.

Biography[]

Jonas Taylor was born in 1956. He was a deep sea diver and sub pilot working for the United States Navy on a top-secret dive in the Mariana Trench. After an accident that killed two other scientists and put him in the hospital, he claimed to have been attacked by the Meg, a massive prehistoric shark that is believed to be extinct. Because he is the only survivor, he is disbelieved. He becomes a paleontologist and attempts to prove that the megalodon still lurks in the trenches, but is still considered a crackpot until the meg resurfaces.
