Benedict Singer is one of the secondary antagonists of The Trench. He was the adoptive / true biological father of Celeste Singer. He was known to have been in a radioactive accident that took away all his hair (except a goatee) and changed his eyes to a very unusual emerald color. He was an energy mogul. In the novel, he took Jonas Taylor's wife down into the Mariana Trench.
